Estimating insulation
Price by square foot for each area, with the material (fiberglass batts, blown cellulose or fiberglass, spray foam) and the R-value it reaches. Air sealing before insulating is often the bigger energy saving; include it. Removal of old, wet or pest-contaminated insulation is a separate line. Many utilities and tax incentives require the R-value and material on the paperwork, so state them.
Frequently asked questions
What R-value should an attic have?
It depends on climate zone; R-38 to R-60 is commonly recommended across most of the US.
Should air sealing be separate?
Yes, so the homeowner sees it and doesn’t skip it.
Is spray foam worth it?
It seals and insulates at once but costs more. Offer it as an option where it fits.
