Estimating paving
Measure the area, then price removal, base and asphalt per square foot (or asphalt by the ton for larger jobs). State the base and asphalt thickness, since that’s what separates a lasting driveway from a cheap one. Drainage, grade changes and access for equipment affect price. For parking lots, add striping per stall and ADA markings.
Frequently asked questions

Commonly 2–3 inches of compacted asphalt over 4–8 inches of stone base.
Should I quote per square foot or per ton?
Per square foot for homeowners; per ton or per square yard for commercial work.
When should new asphalt be sealed?
Usually 6–12 months after paving, once it cures.
