Estimating a pool
Break the estimate into excavation, shell (concrete, fiberglass or vinyl), plumbing and equipment, electrical and bonding, decking, and fencing. Access for equipment, rock and groundwater are the big unknowns: say how they’re handled. Most jurisdictions require a permit and a barrier fence. For renovations, price resurfacing per square foot and equipment by model.
Frequently asked questions
Is fencing required?
Usually yes; most local codes require a barrier at least 4 feet high with self-closing gates.
What if you hit rock?
Price rock removal separately as found, or by the hour.
Are electrical and bonding included?
State it; they require a licensed electrician.
