Fixed-price remodel quotes
Quote a fixed price only for a scope you can define. List the phases, put undecided finishes in allowances, and spell out exclusions (appliances, hidden damage, work by others). Tie payments to milestones, and check your state’s limits on home improvement deposits. Anything the client adds during the job goes on a signed change order with its price.
For early budgets, use the remodel estimate template.
From accepted quote to invoice
A quote is a fixed offer: once the client accepts it in writing, by signing it or replying to say yes, both sides are bound by its price and scope. Keep the accepted copy. When the work is done, open the quote in the free quote maker and switch it to Invoice, or start from the construction invoice template. Anything the client added later goes on its own line.
Frequently asked questions
What happens if we find damage behind the walls?
Say in the quote that hidden conditions are priced separately with the client’s written approval.
How do allowances work in a fixed quote?
The quote includes a set amount; the final price moves up or down by the difference between the allowance and what the client chooses.
How long should a remodel quote be valid?
30 days is typical, since materials and subcontractor prices change.
