Quoting video work
Split the quote into the three phases clients understand: pre-production (concept, script, locations, scheduling), production (shoot days, crew and gear) and post-production (editing, color, sound, graphics). List the deliverables precisely: lengths, aspect ratios and formats. Say how many revision rounds are included and what more cost. Music, stock footage and talent all need licenses or releases for the client’s intended use.
From accepted quote to invoice
A quote is a fixed offer: once the client accepts it in writing, by signing it or replying to say yes, both sides are bound by its price and scope. Keep the accepted copy. When the work is done, open the quote in the free quote maker and switch it to Invoice, or start from the videographer invoice template. Anything the client added later goes on its own line.
Frequently asked questions
Should I quote video per day or per project?
Per project for defined deliverables, built from day rates you can show. Clients approve outcomes more easily than hours.
Who pays for music and stock footage?
The client, through your quote. Show licenses as their own lines and say what use they cover.
What if the client wants more changes?
Extra revision rounds or reshoots are billed at your stated rate. Put the rate in the quote.
