Quoting a roof
Homeowners compare roofing quotes line by line, so name the shingle brand and line, the underlayment, the flashing and ventilation, and your warranty. Give one total for the core job and list upgrades as optional lines. Price decking replacement per sheet, since nobody can see it until the old roof is off.
See the roofing estimate template for a per-square breakdown.
From accepted quote to invoice
A quote is a fixed offer: once the client accepts it in writing, by signing it or replying to say yes, both sides are bound by its price and scope. Keep the accepted copy. When the work is done, open the quote in the free quote maker and switch it to Invoice, or start from the roofing invoice template. Anything the client added later goes on its own line.
Frequently asked questions
Should a roofing quote be per square or a total?
A total for the defined roof, with the square count and per-square price for anything extra, is clearest.
How much deposit do roofers take?
Often 10–30% to order materials; some states limit deposits on home improvement jobs.
Should optional upgrades be on the quote?
Yes, as separate lines, so the client can accept the roof and choose upgrades.
